You may already know that Freemasons are dedicated to raising money for charity, and at St George Abadan, we take great pride in doing our fair share—and more. Each year, the current Master selects a charity to support, and this year, as Master, I was delighted to nominate the 10th Medway (Chatham) Sea Scouts.
So far this year, we have been able to donate an impressive £626 to them, a contribution that will support the fantastic work they do in developing young people’s skills, confidence, and sense of adventure. But our fundraising efforts have also been about collaboration, and the Sea Scouts themselves helped us to help them!
At my invitation, they organised a game of ‘Treasure Island’—a simple yet entertaining activity where participants paid £1 for a marker and placed it where they believed the treasure was buried. This fun initiative alone raised £126 towards our charitable contribution.
Supporting local organisations such as the Sea Scouts aligns with the Masonic values of integrity, friendship, respect, and service. We are proud to make a difference in our community and look forward to continuing our charitable efforts throughout the year.
A huge thank you to everyone who contributed, and of course, to the 10th Medway (Chatham) Sea Scouts for their enthusiasm and involvement. Together, we make a lasting impact.
