On Thursday 26th February 2026, family, friends and Brethren gathered at St Andrew’s Church to celebrate the life of Worshipful Brother Phillip John Hadden, our much-loved Tyler.
The church was filled to capacity, with at least 200 in attendance, including many familiar Masonic faces who had come to pay their respects. It was a fitting tribute to a man who gave so much to his family, his friends and to Freemasonry.
The service was both moving and uplifting. Hymns included Amazing Grace and Jerusalem, and heartfelt tributes were delivered by members of his family. The readings, poems and reflections beautifully captured Phil’s warmth, humour, steadfast character and deep love for those closest to him. The closing music, Last Goodbye by Billy Boyd, brought a poignant conclusion to a truly memorable celebration of his life.
Phil served St George Abadan Lodge with quiet dignity and dedication as Tyler. His presence at the door, his ready smile and his unwavering commitment will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Our thoughts and prayers remain with Mandy and all Phil’s family at this time.
“Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”
