Not a Lodge to shy away from challenges, St George Abadan officers prepared for another first for them, a double initiation on the 7th February 2026. However, on the day one of the initiates had a family emergency and had to miss the meeting. So a usual initiation took place. Well not quite usual, as St George Abadan follow the Emulation ritual with slight differences that were implemented well before any current living member learnt their ritual. These differences provide interesting changes for visitors and give them something to remember.
The ceremony to initiate Mr Callum Scott Thomas was mainly conducted by past masters, with WBro. Eric Pope acting as Worshipful Master, WBro. David Hiscock delivering the charge in the NE, WBro. Roy Coenye presenting their long and different version of the working tools, and finally the charge after initiation being delivered by WBro. Sefton Davis who being less than a month away from his 87th birthday did it with efficiency and aplomb.
The event was also embellished by the visit of an ex member WBro. Brian White from Essex with four colleagues. He was initiated into St George Abadan at this meeting 30 years ago.
During the meeting we were pleased to elect WBro. Dmytro Tchupienko as Master for the ensuing year.
The Festive Board was a good affair too, although noisy with the fire being given using the new mini mauls provided by our current Worshipful Master, Tony Jacobs.
