Dave Hiscock

WBro. Dave Hiscock is a true Masonic dynamo. Just two years short of fifty years in Freemasonry, it is remarkable that at 78 he continues to participate with an energy and enthusiasm that many younger men can only aspire to.

Dave’s early life began at Hoo Primary School, followed by High Halstow Secondary Modern. Leaving school at 16, he secured an apprenticeship in Boiler Making in 1963 at the BP Oil Refinery on the Isle of Grain, qualifying as a fully trained Boiler Maker. Little did he know at that stage that his journey would later lead him to St George Abadan Lodge, where he would develop a passion for researching its unique history—founded by BP Oil workers in Abadan, Iran.

He remained at the refinery until 1979 and, after a brief period with another oil company, founded his own business specialising in large oil tank maintenance, redundant plant removal, and oil spill recovery across the South East. Having successfully grown the business, it is now managed by one of his two sons.

Dave has achieved high distinction within Freemasonry. He holds Provincial Grand Rank in Craft and Great Rank in the Knights Templar. He also serves as Treasurer of one Craft Lodge, one Chapter, and two KT Preceptories, and is a member of the Knights Beneficent of the Holy City.

A seasoned traveller, Dave has explored much of Europe, the USA, Australia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malta, Greece, and Cyprus. He is also an Honorary Member of Carantona Preceptory in Slovenia.

Outside of Freemasonry, Dave has a passion for classic cars, becoming the second owner of a 53-year-old BMW, which he has maintained and cherished for 37 years.

Dave’s life exemplifies the Masonic principles of Integrity, Friendship, Respect, and Service, both within the Lodge and in the wider community, inspiring Brethren with his dedication, leadership, and unwavering commitment to the Craft.
