James Chespy’s life is a story of service, dedication, and compassion — qualities that resonate deeply with the spirit of Freemasonry. Born in Wales, James began working life in a humble timber yard, earning £25 a week — every penny of which he gave to his mother for his keep. From those early days, his life has been shaped by a sense of responsibility and care for others.

His journey took him to England, where he worked as an Operating Theatre Orderly in a London hospital — a role that deepened his respect for service and the human spirit. In 2003, James joined Essex Constabulary, committing himself to public safety. Sixteen years later, he transferred to the Metropolitan Police, where he served with distinction until retiring at the age of 56.

Retirement was not the end of his calling. James enrolled at Cardiff University, qualifying as a Police Station Accredited Representative — offering vital support to those under police investigation, instructed by solicitor firms. Alongside this, he studied theology at Canterbury Christ Church University, graduating this September with an Upper Second-Class degree. His ambition is now to further pursue a Master’s degree in Spiritual Care, combining his academic insight with his life-long commitment to helping others.

James is a proud father of two grown-up daughters and lives in Kent. His dedication extends to his role as Almoner of St George Abadan No. 6058, where he brings warmth, compassion, and a wealth of experience to support his fellow brethren and the wider community. His life reflects the Freemasons’ values of Integrity, Friendship, Respect, and Service — a living example of how to walk the path of true brotherhood.
