Last evening was nothing short of spectacular at St. George Abadan Lodge No. 6058, as the Lodge hosted another memorable Patronal Festival at Manor Road. The event was made even more special as it marked the first major occasion under the leadership of our new Worshipful Master, W.Bro Tony Jacobs. With his guidance, the evening was filled with camaraderie, celebration, and a heartwarming sense of community.

One of the highlights of the evening was the announcement of W.Bro Tony Jacobs’ nominated charity for the year – Gillingham Street Angels. This incredible charity, known for its vital work in supporting vulnerable people in the local area, was presented with a generous donation of £850. This total was made up of £600 from the Lodge and £250 in donations collected throughout the night. It is a gesture that will undoubtedly help Gillingham Street Angels continue their important work in the community.

The Gillingham Street Angels themselves took to their Facebook page to express their gratitude, saying:
“Wow, what a night! We would like to say a massive thank you to Tony Jacob’s, Worshipful Master of the St George Abadan Lodge No. 6058, for choosing us as their charity of the year and for inviting us to join their 14th Festival of St George. It was a wonderful night full of celebration and nostalgia, and the cherry on top was being presented with a cheque for £850.00 resulting from the fundraising efforts of the Lodge members and their guests. This donation will make a huge difference, so a big heartfelt thank you to you all, and we look forward to working with you over the coming year.”

It’s moments like these that truly capture the essence of Freemasonry—community, charity, and mutual support. The generosity shown by the Lodge members and their guests at this year’s Festival is a testament to their commitment to making a positive impact on those in need. The collaboration between St. George Abadan Lodge and Gillingham Street Angels is a shining example of what can be achieved when we come together for a common cause.

We extend our deepest thanks to all who contributed to this wonderful evening and look forward to the continued partnership with Gillingham Street Angels in the year ahead. Here’s to another successful year of charity, fellowship, and service!
