We are delighted to announce another exciting upcoming trip to Weymouth Masonic Hall to once again be guests of All Souls Lodge No. 170, bringing together tradition, skill, and fellowship. The Famous Five + team from St. George Abadan is confirmed to visit the Weymouth Masonic Hall on 11th July 2025, followed by a unique opportunity to shape rough stone into meaningful creations at learningstone.org on Portland over the weekend of 12th–13th July.
Embracing the Rough Ashlar Journey
For our newer Brethren, this experience will focus on the traditional Masonic symbolism of the Rough Ashlar, representing the beginning of their Masonic journey. Guided by experienced mentors, they will have the opportunity to work hands-on with white Portland stone—a material renowned for its beauty and historical importance. This activity beautifully combines craftsmanship with personal development, symbolising the process of refining oneself through Masonry’s values.
Advanced Craftsmanship for Experienced Brethren
Our more experienced members will take their skills to the next level, with some aiming to craft intricate pieces such as a Keystone, an architectural feature central to arches, symbolising strength and unity. Others may focus on foundation stones, intended for placement in the Northeast and Southeast corners—locations rich in Masonic tradition.
This craftsmanship is more than an exercise in skill; it reflects our dedication to preserving Masonic traditions while encouraging creativity and connection. To deepen the symbolism, these crafted Portland stones will eventually be returned to Kent, carrying with them the spirit of collaboration and shared purpose.
